Distance: Men 292m (Par 4) | Ladies 292m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 13 | Ladies 13
A great opening hole to begin your round.
Hitting a straight drive is essential, with trees lining both sides of the fairway. Most players will look to get their round off to a solid start on this relatively forgiving par 4
Distance: Men 389m (Par 4) | Ladies 389m (Par 5)
Stroke Index: Men 1 | Ladies 5
The toughest hole on the course for men and the fifth hardest for ladies. The prevailing wind is usually straight into your face, while out-of-bounds runs the full length of the left side, making this a challenging hole at all times. The fairway is beautifully framed by original pine trees from a bygone era. A small green demands accuracy, and anything long over the back leaves a very difficult recovery.
Distance: Men 129m (Par 3) | Ladies 129m (Par 3)
Stroke Index: Men 16 | Ladies 15
A picturesque par 3 and the first of the short holes. While it is one of the easier holes on the card, avoid missing left, where a steep embankment can send your ball well below the green, leaving a very tricky chip. Play safely to the right or hit the green and par is well within reach.
Distance: Men 446m (Par 5) | Ladies 363m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 15 | Ladies 1
The hardest hole for the ladies and a real test. For the men, this par 5 often plays tougher than its rating suggests. A notorious tea tree around 60 metres short of the green on the right has claimed many golf balls, so steer clear. A large, relatively flat green provides a welcome finish.
Distance: Men 238m (Par 4) | Ladies 238m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 18 | Ladies 17
Don’t let the low stroke rating fool you — this hole still demands a straight drive. Trees on both sides, especially the right, can quickly punish an errant tee shot. The green slopes from back to front and features run-off areas on both sides, so approach shots must be accurate. Avoid going long over the back.
Distance: Men 313m (Par 4) | Ladies 270m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 7 | Ladies 8
A brilliant example of a hole that doesn’t need length to be challenging. The uphill tee shot is tight and chute-like, with large trees guarding both sides. The hole doglegs right at around the 100m mark, requiring good placement off the tee to set up the approach. A big, beautiful green awaits you at the end of this great hole.

Distance: Men 480m (Par 5) | Ladies 341m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 10 | Ladies 2
A very demanding par 4 for the ladies, requiring a strong and accurate drive. For men, this is a quality par 5 that bends left over the crest of a hill around the 150m mark. The tee shot is blind, but with minimal danger. Two good shots to the top of the rise sets up scoring opportunities.

Distance: Men 312m (Par 4) | Ladies 279m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 5 | Ladies 7
A standout hole requiring commitment from the tee. Men must drive over the edge of a large dam to reach the top of the incline. The narrow green features run-offs on both sides, and anything long over the back brings serious trouble. A water feature beside the green can occasionally come into play. Ladies avoid the carry over the dam, but must still be accurate as trees on the right can lead to a difficult second shot.

Distance: Men 199m (Par 3) | Ladies 168m (Par 3)
Stroke Index: Men 4 | Ladies 10
A long and challenging uphill par 3. A deep gully sits in front of the elevated green, making club selection critical. Out-of-bounds behind the green can catch the biggest hitters. Remarkably, at the time of writing there has never been a hole-in-one on this hole — a perfect reason to visit Heyfield and try to be the first!

Distance: Men 373m (Par 4) | Ladies 309m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 2 | Ladies 11
A difficult opening hole on the back nine and one of the toughest for men. The fairway turns right around 130 metres off the tee, so positioning is vital. Tree-lined on both sides, especially left, it’s a strong par 4 requiring accuracy and good course management.

Distance: Men 176m (Par 3) | Ladies 112m (Par 3)
Stroke Index: Men 11 | Ladies 18
A challenging par 3 for men and a much shorter test for ladies. Out-of-bounds runs along the left side and can easily come into play, especially with the prevailing wind often pushing shots that way. The front of the green is firm and unpredictable, meaning even well-struck shots can take unexpected bounces.

Distance: Men 349m | Ladies 349m
Stroke Index: Men 3 | Ladies 3
Another excellent hole. Out-of-bounds to the right is technically in play, though it would take a very wayward tee shot to find it. A large gum tree around 50 metres short of the green provides a defining feature and adds real character. Recent work by the volunteer ground staff has greatly improved the hole without reducing the challenge.

Distance: Men 459m (Par 5) | Ladies 416m (Par 5)
Stroke Index: Men 12 | Ladies 4
A straight par 5 that becomes significantly tighter around 100 metres from the green as trees encroach on both sides. Players must be careful with their layup and approach shots to avoid trouble. The large green has a steeper slope at the front, and once again, going long is not advised.

Distance: Men 489m (Par 5) | Ladies 381m (Par 5)
Stroke Index: Men 8 | Ladies 9
The longest hole on the course and one of the true signature holes at Heyfield. Men face a tight chute off the tee, while the ladies tee provides a slightly more open line. A historic original pine tree remains in play and must be negotiated on the second or third shot. Recent stump removal has enhanced the hole’s appearance. A large green provides a rewarding finish.

Distance: Men 276m (Par 4) | Ladies 261m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 14 | Ladies 14
A classic risk-and-reward hole. Big hitters can take on the trees to cut the corner of this left-bending fairway. Pull it off and you’re set up perfectly — miss and trouble awaits. This hole suits left-handers particularly well and is often used as a target hole during competitions, with players aiming to reach the green in two.

Distance: Men 335m | Ladies 320m
Stroke Index: Men 6 | Ladies 6
A tight driving hole with bushland down the right side. Push too far left and the ball can run away off the fairway. This gradual left dogleg has become one of the best-looking holes on the course. The green is narrow with steep run-offs on both sides, particularly right, demanding accuracy on the approach. Avoid missing long.

Distance: Men 327m (Par 4) | Ladies 277m (Par 4)
Stroke Index: Men 9 | Ladies 12
Another left-turning hole where a good drive sets up your chance to finish strongly. Trouble exists on both sides, but the fairway is wide enough to reward confident tee shots. Missing the green left is dangerous, as a steep drop-off can send the ball down onto the road. A well-protected green provides a fair test with shallow run-offs.

Distance: Men 136m (Par 3) | Ladies 113m (Par 3)
Stroke Index: Men 17 | Ladies 16
A stunning signature hole to finish your round. The tee shot is played to an elevated green with water in play for nearly a third of the hole’s length. For many golfers, clearing the water is the first priority. Recent clearing near the tee has opened up beautiful views across the water, making this a memorable and challenging closing hole.
